Veterans Day is an official holiday celebrated in the United States to honor those who have served in the military, both present and past. These heroes are known as veterans. Veterans Day is a federal holiday that is observed on November 11th of every year and is a time to remember, appreciate and thank all of the men and women who have risked their lives for our safety.

In 1919, President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed November 11th 'Armistice Day', saying:

'to us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country's service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations.'

In 1954, Congress changed the name of 'Armistice Day' to 'veterans Day' in an effort to better honor those who are serving in the armed forces, as well as those who have served. It has been known as Veterans Day ever since- a day to remember lives lost in the effort of obtaining freedom for all Americans.

This year, say thank you to all the veterans in your life, both those who have served in years gone by, as well as those currently serving, with a beautiful bouquet of flowers from French Florist. Los Angeles' premier online floral retailer for over 30 years, French Florist has a wide assortment of patriotic arrangements to choose from including this 'Colors of Our Country' arrangement. A red, white and blue themed arrangement featuring delphinium, carnations, gerbera daisies and assorted fillers is a classic American tribute.
